Some of you may remember hearing about Grace. Her amazing story was presented at this year's Weim & Cheese. Grace came to us in December 2009. Wolf Creek received the call for help from Young-Williams Animal Center in Knoxville, TN. Grace's story was not unlike many that rescue groups know so well. From all appearances, Grace was used primarily as a breeding dog and was then simply discarded when she was no longer needed. Grace's coat and skin were in such horrible condition that an untreated mange or thyroid condition was suspected. The picture you see below is of Grace when she first came to us. She looked tired, sad, and appeared much older than she really was. But that one picture is only the beginning of the story.
It turned out that Grace's skin condition was simply the result of poor nutrition and neglect. Grace was lovingly nursed back to health by Wolf Creek foster parent, Christy Maschal. In Christy's care, Grace's indomitable spirit emerged and began to shine, right along with her coat. She experienced the simple joy that came with being able to play with other dogs. In short, Grace was transformed before our very eyes. It is because of you, our supportive members, that Wolf Creek is able to continue its mission of finding forever homes for wayward Weimaraners. It is because of foster parents like Christy that Grace learned what it felt like to be part of a loving family. Grace found her forever home earlier this month. She sent us this video greeting to share with you all (be sure to have your speakers on!)
P.S. Grace wants to remind you that foster homes are a huge part of Wolf Creek's success. We need more foster homes. Won't you consider opening your heart and home today? If you're interested , please complete a Foster Application today!
