My name is Jack and I came into rescue over a year ago. My owners had to move and could not take me with them. I'm almost 10 years old, although many times you would not know it! Do not be fooled by my age, I'm a high-spirited boy who loves to be on the go! If you're looking for a super-smart Weim, your search is over. Really, why even consider a young Weim when you can have me? Trust me, the wisdom that comes with age surpasses youth every time! I am looking for a home where I can spend the remainder of my years.
As you can see from my pictures, I am one handsome boy. I have beautiful light eyes that did not turn amber. They enhance my youthful appearance, don't you think? I currently live in a foster home where I have no problem keeping up with my younger foster siblings. I love to play and I adore going for walks. I've gotten much better on my leash manners and I'm learning that I don't need to pull, after all there are plenty of hours in the day. I ride beautifully in a vehicle and love to watch the world go by from the window. I'm a huge fan of toys. Durable toys are a must with me as I do enjoy chewing on them. If you fill a Kong with peanut butter, I promise to love you forever. Oh, I love to swim too. Check out my swim video to see me in action.
I would be an excellent guardian of your home, nothing slips by me. Don't bother with an expensive security system... Jack is on duty. I have excellent house manners and can be trusted in the home. Okay, so there was the case of the missing chicken burrito, but I'm pleading the fifth on that incident. I'll admit that I'm intensely passionate about food. I love food. I love the smell of food. I've been known to counter surf and I'd be less than honest if I didn't tell you that the kitchen is one of my favorite rooms in the house! My foster family is working with me on my food manners. When you're preparing food in the kitchen or sitting down to dinner, simply put me in a down-stay outside the kitchen and I will abide. I told you I was a smart boy. Seriously, I can be left alone in the house and won't disturb anything (well, unless you leave food on the counter!) I can be crated but tend to bark a lot, so I much prefer to be able to stretch my bones around the comforts of a home. I am a couch potato and love soft things to lay on. Human beds are truly my favorite. I also love to be covered with blankets. I enjoy crawling under blankets and taking naps, you really have to see it to believe it. I love feeling warm and secure.
Like nearly all Weims, I have a high prey drive. Squirrels are such a delight to chase! Anyway, I think it's safe to say that I cannot live with cats (and just about any small critter). I would truly acclimate best in a home where I'm the only dog. If I were to live with another dog, I would best get along with a female. I tend to have a dominant personality and would likely compete with a male dog. Kids are cool with me, but they must be older (10+) as I'm an exuberant boy when it comes to toys and food. Well, what do you think? I have my paws crossed for the perfect forever home.....
